So....I'm at the 3rd grade Valentine's Day Party when one of the Mom's ( She happens to be one of Jenna's Brownie Leaders as well ) says to me "Oh there's Michelle...her Mom is 6 months pregnant". Okayyyyyyyyyy that's nice I'm thinking ...but I can tell there's something more coming and...there was. She says "Angela ( Michelle's Mom ) is a surrogate" 0_0
So I said " You mean like "Uterus for Rent"?" Ummm yes. A couple from California have made a contract with Angela.
Think of all the ethical ramifications here. On the one hand, if I had a close family member or friend, I MIGHT consider doing surrogacy for someone ( I don't even know how to spell it! ). On the other hand, would you consider doing it for money???

I have a friend who used a surrogate. She'd had troubles getting preggers in the past, and would have enough money for in vitro OR surrogacy. So, since fertility treatments hadn't worked for her in the past, she went with surrogacy. At least, that's the story she told - but I think she didn't want to wreck all of her plastic surgery.
She picked a chick in CA - about as far away as you can get in the continental US.
I never thought about the person who chose to be a surrogate before. How hard for her children to know that the kid who makes Mom feel like shat and who is keeping your mom from doing fun stuff w/you will not be sticking around.
In addition, her daughter is the biggest stinker in the troop. The child never listens and is very L*O*U*D.
I can't see myself doing that for money.....yet.
