I'm talking to Jenna this afternoon and say " Tianna's mom needs someone to give Tianna a ride to Girl Scouts tonight - I think I'll call her and offer to do that "
** Tianna has high functioning autism
Jenna groans " do we hhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaave to?"
Me " I think it would be the nice thing to do "
Jenna "let's not "
Me " Jenna, it's not Tianna's fault that she obsesses on topics and that she doesn't know how to behave in social situations. I would think that YOU above all people would get that "
Jenna " Why?"
Me " Because of Mark. In any case, I still expect you to be compassionate and understanding "
And what did my angel say???
Jenna " well...I'm not"
Nice...real nice. I'm raising Ted Bundy.

I'll bet Jenna was polite and nice to Tianna, wasn't she? I'm bettin' I'm right over here BECAUSE she lives in a household of compassionate and kind folks and even if she wishes she didn't, she knows all the rules. Honestly, that's all any of us hope for, I think: when the rubber hits the road, they fall into auto pilot and carry it off like the shining stars they are.
And now, I will go and work on my wording because rubber meeting the road is NOT the image one hopes for when discussing auto pilot, is it? Oh my . . .
Jackie - you are weak to the Jenna and Maddie types - WEAK I tell you!! Last night, Jenna was grounded off the computer. I grounded her because her father asked her to get off the computer so older child could use it for homework.....Jen marches into our Reading Room ( I was in there working on paper work ) and says " Dad is being a brat " . Naturally, I busted her on that and told her she lost computer privileges for a day. She started to protest and I assured her that protesting would cost her more days. She looks up at me and smiles and says " Surely you knew I was joking...."
I'm doomed.
Ohhhh, you could be so right about that because I am sitting here laughing, right out loud (which did startle Gray the Wonder Kitty), at Jenna's comment. Hmmm, my lack of responsible responses, when faced with a funny kid, could help to explain Mama's baby brother. Still . . . you've got to adore a funny kid, don't you think? :-) And where did you think Jenna and Maddie and Johnny got those wicked senses of humor? Is it at all possible there's a tad of the same sly wickedness evident in a parent, perhaps? Could heredity be a contributing factor? I'm just asking . . . and laughing, laughing, laughing! Yahoozers!
